Hospitality and Ushers

Technology

The Outreach Ministry extends God’s love beyond the church walls,

Music Ministry

The Music Ministry uplifts the congregation through inspiring

worship and praise, blending traditional hymns and contemporary

gospel music.

Transportation

Ensuring everyone can attend church services and events, the Transportation Ministry provides safe and reliable rides for members in need.

The Maintenance Ministry diligently cares for the church grounds and facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for worship and fellowship.

Who We Are?

In the small, close-knit community of Lockhart, Second Baptist Church was founded in 1917 under the name Mount Nebo. A group of devoted believers came together to organize the church, recognizing the vital need for a place of worship in their community. Since then, Second Baptist has been a pillar of faith, hope, and unity.

Over the years, the church has faced many challenges but has remained steadfast in its mission to foster togetherness, empower the youth, and serve the community with love and compassion. Rooted in these values, Second Baptist continues to grow and thrive, remaining a beacon of light and faith for all who enter.

As a c)3 certified church, Second Baptist is preparing for continued growth and embracing the charge to carry God’s work into the future. It is a house where God’s presence is welcome, and His glory can manifest. At Second Baptist Church, we honor God, the master of all creation, as we build a legacy of faith, service, and love.

Meet Our Pastor

Reverend Michael Murray, Sr.

In January 1996, Reverend Michael Murray, Sr. was called to serve as the 10th pastor of Second Baptist Church. With a heart devoted to ministry, Pastor Murray is deeply committed to serving God's people and guiding them toward spiritual growth and transformation.

An anointed servant of God, Pastor Murray carries a unique calling to reconcile God’s people back to Him. Through his dynamic preaching and teaching, he empowers individuals to build a deeper relationship with Christ and live according to His Word.

Pastor Murray is a loving husband to Evangelist Adelle Murray and a devoted father to their children. Family lies at the center of his ministry, reflecting his deep love for Christ and his dedication to building a strong, united community. He leads with compassion, wisdom, and faithfulness, inspiring all to walk boldly in their God-given purpose.
